Australian Online Mathematics & Science Tuition

Building Understanding.  Inspiring Confidence

Helping students in Years 6–10 develop confidence in Mathematics and Science through small, interactive online classes focused on genuine understanding and aligned with the Australian Curriculum.

Why Families Choose St. Joseph's Online Institute

  • 27+ Years Teaching Experience

  • Small Interactive Classes

  • Learn First Promise

  • Thoughtful use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to strengthen learning

Our Learn First Promise

Attend the first three classes before paying your tuition fees.

This allows your family to experience our teaching approach before making any financial commitment.

Small Interactive Classes

Classes have a maximum of four students. Smaller class sizes allow every student to participate actively, ask questions freely, and receive individual attention. Learning becomes a conversation rather than a one-way explanation.

Aligned with the Australian Curriculum

Our Mathematics & Science lessons are designed to support Australian school students in Years 6–10, with learning aligned to the Australian Curriculum and responsive to the curriculum requirements of students' schools and states.

Support Across Years 6–10

Students in Years 6–10 can receive support in both Mathematics and Science, with lessons shaped around the topics they are learning at school. Whether a student is strengthening foundations, working through a difficult concept, or building greater confidence, the focus remains on understanding rather than simply completing exercises.

Start with 3 free classes. Learn first, decide later.
After the free classes, tuition is AU$9 per hour.

Fostering Independent, Confident Learners

Rather than relying on rote memorization, students are guided to develop original thinking and self-reliance. As their conceptual understanding deepens, they move away from being passive listeners and begin asking sharper, more thoughtful questions. This active engagement allows us to challenge them further, transforming mathematics and science from subjects they endure into subjects they genuinely understand and master.

Welcome to St. Joseph's Online Institute

Dear Families,

Thank you for visiting St. Joseph's Online Institute.

Choosing the right educator for your child is an important decision, and I appreciate the

opportunity to introduce myself and the educational values that guide my teaching.

I believe that every child can learn Mathematics and Science when they are taught with patience, encouragement, and clear explanations. My goal is not simply to help students complete homework, prepare for school assessments, or perform well in NAPLAN, but to help them develop genuine understanding, think independently, and build lasting confidence in their learning.

Our online classes are intentionally kept small so that every student has the opportunity to ask questions, participate actively, and receive personal attention. Understanding always comes before memorisation because students who truly understand ideas are better prepared to solve unfamiliar problems with confidence.

I also believe that education works best when educators and families work together. Parents know their children better than anyone else, and I value that partnership as we support each student's learning and progress.

Whether your child needs extra support, greater confidence, or additional academic challenge, my commitment is to provide patient guidance, thoughtful teaching, and a learning environment where every student feels respected, encouraged, and capable of learning.

“We believe true confidence begins with patient guidance. Through thoughtful instruction and a supportive, respectful environment, we help every student discover that they are fully capable of mastering mathematics and science.”

I warmly invite you to continue reading to learn more about my teaching approach, my online classes, and the educational values that shape St. Joseph's Online Institute.

Meet Your Educator

Choosing an educator for your child is an important decision. As a parent, you want someone who not only understands Mathematics and Science, but also understands children, encourages questions, and teaches with patience.

My name is Roy Sebastian, and I have been teaching students for over 27 years. I have also been teaching Australian school students online since 2019, supporting students from different Australian states and adapting lessons to their school and curriculum requirements.

These years of teaching have strengthened my belief that every child is capable of learning when concepts are explained clearly, patiently, and in a way that makes sense to them.

Understanding Comes Before Memorisation

When students understand an idea, they gain the confidence to apply it independently. Rather than encouraging students to memorise procedures, I guide them to ask questions, think logically, and develop genuine understanding.

My lessons are planned around the topics students are learning in their Australian schools. The goal is not simply to provide additional practice, but to strengthen classroom learning, build confidence, and help students understand concepts more deeply.

Parents Don't Have to Become the Teacher

You don't need to search for explanations, learn the topic yourself, and then try to teach it at home. Our role is to teach and guide your child, while helping them develop the confidence to think, ask questions, practise and learn independently.

You can support your child's education without having to become the teacher.

Every Student Matters

My online classes are intentionally kept small and interactive. Every student is

encouraged to participate, explain their thinking, and ask questions without hesitation. I believe that mistakes are a natural part of learning and that a supportive classroom helps students develop confidence as well as academic ability.

Learning Never Stops

I  believe that good educators never stop learning. I continually reflect on my teaching, study educational developments, and refine my methods so that I can serve students and families more effectively each year.

Above all, I consider it a privilege to work alongside families in helping students grow not only in knowledge, but also in confidence, curiosity, and independent thinking.

In the next section, I would like to show you how these educational principles are reflected in every online class.

Our Teaching Approach

Every child learns differently, and every lesson should help students grow in understanding, confidence, and independent thinking. Our teaching approach has been shaped by many years of teaching experience and is guided by a few simple but important principles.

Working Together with Families

Parents play an important role in every child's education. We value open communication with families and believe that when educators, students, and parents work together, students achieve their best results—both academically and personally.

Our aim is not only to help students perform well in school today, but also to help them become curious, confident, and independent learners for the future.

What Makes Our Online Classes Different

Every child is unique, and every family hopes to find an educator who will not only improve academic performance but also help their child develop confidence, curiosity, and enjoyment in learning.

Personalised Learning

Students learn more effectively when lessons connect with their own experiences. We regularly use personalised questions and real-life examples that encourage genuine thinking and make learning more meaningful. Students come to class with different strengths, different experiences, and different levels of confidence. Some students understand new ideas quickly, while others need more time, more examples, or a different explanation before a concept becomes clear. Effective teaching recognises these differences and responds with patience rather than pressure.

Thoughtful Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is an important part of modern education. We encourage students to use it wisely—to explore ideas, strengthen understanding, and develop better learning habits—while continuing to think independently and solve problems for themselves.

Learning with Respect

Every student deserves patience, encouragement, and the freedom to ask questions. We strive to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes because mistakes are often the beginning of deeper understanding.

Our goal is not simply to prepare students for the next test, but to help them become confident, curious, and independent learners who continue growing long after the lesson has ended.

What Families Can Expect

When you enrol your child at St. Joseph's Online Institute, you can expect a learning experience built on trust, understanding, and consistent support.

A Welcoming Learning Environment

Every student is treated with patience, respect, and encouragement. We strive to create an atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions, expressing their ideas, and learning from their mistakes.

Clear Explanations

Mathematics and Science concepts are explained step by step so that students develop genuine understanding rather than relying on memorisation alone.

Meaningful Homework Support

Homework is viewed as an opportunity to strengthen understanding. Students are encouraged to think independently, explain their reasoning, and use Artificial Intelligence (AI) responsibly as a learning tool rather than simply copying answers.

Steady Progress

Learning is a gradual process. Through consistent practice, thoughtful guidance, and active participation, students steadily build confidence, deepen their understanding, and strengthen their problem-solving skills.

Partnership with Families

Parents are always welcome to communicate with us regarding their child's learning. We believe that when educators and families work together, students receive the greatest benefit from their education.

Our commitment is to provide every student with a positive learning experience that develops knowledge, confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Our Learn First Promise

Choosing an educator is an important decision, and we believe families should have the opportunity to experience our teaching before making that decision.

That is why we offer our Learn First Promise.

Learn Before You Commit

Your child is welcome to attend the first three online classes before paying any tuition fees.

This allows your family to experience our teaching approach, interactive learning environment, and supportive classroom culture before making any financial commitment.

Experience Our Teaching

During these three classes, you and your child will have the opportunity to experience:

  • our teaching approach,
  • the interactive nature of our online classes,
  • the personal attention each student receives,
  •  the supportive atmosphere that encourages understanding, confidence, and active participation.

A Decision Made with Confidence

We believe that trust grows through experience rather than promises. Instead of asking families to make an immediate commitment, we invite them to experience our teaching first and then decide with confidence.

If, after the three classes, you feel that St. Joseph's Online Institute is the right place for your child's learning, your child simply continues with regular tuition.

Our goal is not simply to enrol students. Our goal is to build long-term relationships with families based on trust, understanding, and genuine educational value.

How Online Classes Work

We aim to make the learning process simple, transparent, and comfortable for both students and families.

Step 1 – Contact Us

Send us a WhatsApp message to discuss your child's year level, learning needs, and preferred class timings.

Step 2 – A Friendly Conversation

We will answer your questions, understand your child's educational needs, and recommend the most suitable class for your child.

Step 3 – Attend the First Three Classes

Your child attends the first three online classes under our Learn First Promise, giving your family the opportunity to experience our teaching approach before making any financial commitment.

Classes are conducted through Google Meet. A secure Google Meet link is sent a few minutes before each class begins, making it simple for students to join from a computer, tablet, or mobile device.

Step 4 – Continue with Confidence

If you are happy with your child's learning experience, your child simply continues in the class, and regular tuition begins at AU$9 per hour.

Classes are scheduled after the Australian school day, allowing students time to return home, unwind and be ready for learning.

Throughout this journey, our goal is to make every family feel informed, supported, and confident in their educational decision.

Questions Parents Often Ask

Is online tuition as effective as face-to-face tuition?

Yes—when classes are interactive and students participate actively. We keep our classes small so that students can ask questions, explain their thinking, and receive personal attention. Our goal is to make every lesson engaging and effective rather than simply delivering information online.

What if my child misses a class?

Please let us know as soon as possible. We understand that genuine reasons for absence may arise, and we will discuss the best way to help your child continue learning with confidence.

How many students are there in each class?

Classes have a maximum of four students. This keeps them small and interactive, so every student has opportunities to participate, ask questions, and receive individual guidance.

What equipment does my child need?

A reliable internet connection, a computer or tablet  with a camera and microphone, a notebook, and the usual stationery required for learning are generally sufficient.

How does the Learn First Promise work?

Your child may attend the first three online classes before paying any tuition fees. This allows your family to experience our teaching approach and decide with confidence whether our classes are the right fit. If you decide to continue, regular tuition is AU$9 per hour.

What if my child is finding Mathematics or Science difficult?

Every child learns differently. If we observe that a student is facing particular learning challenges, we will discuss our educational observations with you respectfully and work together to adapt our teaching approach. Our goal is always to help each student make steady progress with confidence.

Do you encourage students to use Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

Yes. We believe AI is a valuable learning tool when used wisely. We encourage students to use AI to explore ideas, deepen understanding, and develop better learning habits while continuing to think independently and solve problems for themselves.

How do you communicate with parents?

We value open communication with families.

If there are important educational observations, questions, or concerns regarding your child's learning, we believe they should be discussed honestly, respectfully, and constructively. We see parents as partners in their child's learning journey.

How do I get started?

Simply send us a WhatsApp message. We will be happy to answer your questions, understand your child's learning needs, and explain how the Learn First Promise works. There is absolutely no obligation to enrol after making an enquiry or attending the first 3 classes.
